Nap-time was at a decent hour this rainy July morning, so after looking through the updated apartment and job postings on craigslist, I decided to be productive in the kitchen.
I have been putting off dicing a large container of strawberries for the little bottomless pit I feed. I bucked up the will and turned on a few episodes of The Dog Whisperer, grabbed a knife and got to work. Luckily, about 90% of the strawberries were ripe, this time....
I threw some blueberries in since charlotte is addicted (and I cant help but to have some contrasting color). I finished this little project in about 3 of Cesar Millan's dog training sessions.
I had about 2 ½ cups of blueberries left and some lonely lemon juice in the fridge.... Do you see where im going with this? I'm not familiar with the world of cocktails (both alcoholic and non). Throw food at me, and I can create a delightful dish. Liquid? A little anxiety comes along..... Especially with my only ⅓ cup of granulated sugar left.
I threw a splash of lemon juice, a small amount of blueberries, some water, and the remainder of my precious sugar into a container and popped it in the microwave for a minute and a half. I strained it into a glass and smashed the blueberries through a sieve (which, of course, I couldn't resist tasting the blueberry simple syrup I made). It was phenomenal and i was actually excited and feeling confident that I hadn't messed my liquid craving up...yet.
This is where it gets risky; I am out of sugar and don't want to put too much lemon water in..... Learn from me. Add a little at a time. I added about half a cup of lemon and a cup and a half of water. I definitely need more sugar. Fail for the day.
THIS is why I drink water; I can't mess it up ;)
My daughter, Charlotte, can't resist the 3P
salad (5P minus the peas and pancetta). Pasta, pesto, and freshly grated parmesan for lunch it is!! Despite my tedious efforts to keep her clean, I turn around to find basil flakes all over her face and hair. Sigh. She is the pesto princess.
P.S.
I am new to this whole "blogging" thing. Unfortunately, Blogger isn't compatible with photos from a Windows Phone. I'm missing pics on this post, but I will use my camera next time!
